Battery Filling Systems offers two types of watering kits,
Basic Kits and
Pre-Strung Kits. Simply remove the
vent caps and replace them with the BFS watering system. When ordering a
basic kit, the number of valves and float size is required.
When ordering a pre-strung kit, the type of battery (manufacturer / make),
the model (ex: 18-125-13), and the battery dimensions are required. If the
drawing number for a pre-strung kit is known, please include it on your
order. Please
refer to our
on-line list of drawings for help in determining the proper drawing
number.
A basic kit has all of the components needed to assemble the watering system
on a battery. Tubing is not pre-cut or attached to the barbs on the valves.
The basic kit is useful for users who would like to keep stock kits on hand
to assemble as the need arises. Each kit includes an instruction sheet with
basic assembly recommendations or the installer can utilize the desired
drawing layout from the BWS website.
A pre-strung kit is completely assembled with the tubing attached to the
barbs on the valves in our factory, matched to and ready to go on a specific
battery type. It can be installed on a battery in about a minute, even by
unskilled laborers. The filling tube is also pre-assembled.
Installation can take place on the battery line or in the field. There are
no additional labor costs when ordering a pre-strung kit. When ordering,
utilize our on-line battery drawings and include the drawing number on the
order to ensure the proper layout.

Battery Filling Systems offers a wide variety of water
delivery items.
Because the BFS system has few restrictions on pressure requirements, our
system can be used interchangeably with most competitor systems by changing
the connector.
BFS offers eleven different float sizes to provide the correct
electrolyte level for every battery type. Nine of the floats are stock items
as they are the most popular sizes.

The Battery Filling System valves are manufactured with the highest
quality materials that keep all working parts above the battery
cell. BFS manufactures valves to suit all industrial cell vent
openings. The patented, reliable lever arm inside the valve allows
the battery to be filled with water at static pressures ranging from
6 psi to 20 psi. Only BFS offers such unique performance and a
variety of specialty valves to meet the needs of the battery
industry.
Years of research and development have shaped the technology of this
system. Each and every valve is independently tested to ensure the
components are working properly. The production of over 10,000,000

To
protect your equipment and extend the life of your batteries,
the deionizer kit from Battery Filling Systems can easily and inexpensively
remove harmful impurities from the water. Dissolved impurities in standard
tap water will degrade batteries and decrease battery life and performance.
With the BFS deionization system, save money with
fewer cartridge replacements. The system is easy to use and is cost
effective.
Easy Installation
– Simply attach the bracket to a wall with four
bolts. Connect the input hose to your water supply. Plug the purity
light in to a 110/120 VAC outlet.

- Monitors the water output and tells you
exactly when the cartridge needs to be replaced. When the light changes
from green to red, it is time to replace the cartridge.

Replacement – No tools are needed.
To replace the cartridge, unscrew the canister and put the new one in!
The old cartridge is non-toxic and can be disposed of easily.
How much capacity can you really get from this filter?
It depends on the quality of your water. If water has particulates or
sediment, a pre-filter is recommended. At three grains per gallon of total
dissolved solids you can expect 1000 gallons of capacity. If you want a more
exact answer, BFS will be happy to test your water quality. Just send us a
sample of your water and we can tell you the approximate gallons of capacity
you can expect from our filter.
Our deionizer comes with an input and output hose. It
connects to your choice of direct fill link or manual gun or an approved
competitor filling device.
If your watering system is not fully pre-assembled,
you will need to assemble it as you install it on the battery.
Remove the existing vent caps that are on the battery
and replace them with the BFSA valves, placing the valves into the cell
opening and pushing down firmly.
Use the examples on the enclosed drawing to determine how to route your
tubing.
Connect the tubing to the valve and measure the distance
to the center of the next valve.
Using an insulated tubing cutter, cut the tubing 1/8”
short of the valve’s center.
Connect the tubing to the valve, pushing the tubing on securely.
Repeat the process to connect all of the valves.
Warming the tubing in hot water will ease tubing installation.
Once all of the valves are connected, install the tee
piece, filling tube and end caps using the drawing enclosed with your
kit as your guide.
It is always good practice to tie down heavy gauge
battery cables.
Frequency of battery watering depends on battery usage
and operating temperatures. Older batteries tend to need more watering
as they age. A typical watering cycle would be weekly or twice monthly
after the equalization charge
Fully charge the battery before watering. Remember,
always water after charging.
Before connecting to the water supply, examine all
valves to ensure that the indicator eye is down in each valve. If you
see a valve in which the indicator eye is up, remove the valve to ensure
the cell’s water level is full. If the eye is up and the water level is
down, examine the valve to make sure the float freely moves up and down.
If it does not, replace the valve immediately.
Connect the water supply to the filling tube. Always use
an approved BFS delivery item.
When filling the battery, watch the indicator eyes of
each of the valves to ensure they are rising and shutting off properly.
If all of the valves indicator eyes appear to be up and the flow
indicator wheel continues to spin slowly, disconnect the water supply
and examine the battery top. If any of the valves indicator eyes are
still recessed, remove the valves to check the water level to ensure
that the float is functioning properly.
The system shuts off automatically and the flow
indicator stops turning when the proper electrolyte level is reached.
The white indicator eye on each valve will pop up when
the valve shuts off during filling. This is a visual indication that the
valve is working properly. It is not unusual for the indicator eye to
drop after filling is complete or when the battery is not fully charged.
Water the battery based on a schedule.
Disconnect the water supply and replace the dust cap on
the male connector.
